Therapy and Intervention

Individualized Therapy and Intervention

Therapy services are built around real-life goals, practical progress, and each client’s unique learning profile. McDonald Associates, LLC provides individualized private therapy for children, teens, and adults who need support with communication, literacy-related language skills, functional independence, daily routines, and participation at home, school, work, and in the community. Each plan is developed from evaluation results, family or client priorities, clinical recommendations, and the skills needed for meaningful everyday success.

We place special emphasis on dyslexia therapy using a collaborative, multisensory approach that supports reading, writing, spelling, language processing, and confidence. Dyslexia support may include structured practice with phonological awareness, sound-symbol connections, decoding, spelling patterns, reading fluency, written expression, comprehension strategies, and self-advocacy. Sessions are designed to be explicit, supportive, and paced to the individual so clients can build skills step by step while experiencing success along the way.

Speech-language therapy can play an important role in dyslexia support by strengthening the language foundations that affect reading and writing. Therapy may target phonological awareness, vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension, expressive language, narrative skills, word retrieval, reading comprehension, and written language organization. For children and adults with dyslexia, these services can help improve communication, literacy participation, academic performance, workplace functioning, and confidence when language demands increase.

Occupational therapy may also support individuals with dyslexia by addressing the functional skills that influence reading, writing, learning routines, and daily independence. For children, occupational therapy may focus on handwriting readiness, fine motor coordination, visual-motor integration, visual tracking, sensory processing, attention to task, organization, and classroom participation. For adults, occupational therapy may support functional skills, adaptive strategies, sensory processing, fine motor abilities, cognitive strategies, workplace routines, and tools that promote independence and quality of life.
